What is the difference between sparkle and dreamgirls

But surely I must be some sort of hater because no one else agrees that the new movie is hopelessly corny and the songs poorly written. But hold up, go see the movie and note the unintential laughter springing from the audience throughout the course of the film.

Don't get me wrong. This is a long way from a bad movie. But it's also a long way from the Cinematic Masterpiece some are billing it as. A good performance or two doesn't make for a great film. The same could be said for The Last King of Scotland. Ballard was originally the lead singer of the group. When the Motown executives made Ross the voice, the friction among the members ensued. A frustrated Ballard began drinking heavily, gaining weight and being disgruntled which ultimately lead to her termination.

Dealing with Ballard's departure was tough for Wilson. That's when she started drinking. She couldn't cope with what was going on. It was a tough time for me. Despite the revolving member changes in the group, Wilson said The Supremes were never able to capture their old chemistry. Wilson said she was instrumental in calling for The Supremes to close shop in Though she was eager to move into the next phase of her career, she was nervous.

But, at the same time, I love doing this. I can't stop because everyone else stopped. But, I enjoy performing, and I'm a great performer.

I may not be a great singer, but I am a great performer. Wilson said it was not easy establishing herself as a solo artist after The Supremes ended and she compares her plight to former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland. Though Wilson and Ross' differences have been discussed in the media over the years, Wilson said they do care about each other. Not easy to communicate and stay friends when you got your boyfriend, husband, the company.

You got all these things coming at you. It's not the kind of thing that keeps you together. Our friendship kinda ended after. We were friends first. We went through all these great things together and then pretty soon it did whatever. Duggs said: great post. I would say Sparkle, but Dreamgirls easily outdoes that movie for me. Payola is also mentioned in the Dreamgirls film, on paying disc jockeys to play certain songs. So, Dreamgirls is better because it covers more ground and tells a story about a girl group struggling in a music business instead of Sparkle although it's a classic.

Check me out and add me on: www. Though the boys and other outside influences appeared, the heart of the movie was about these sisters trying to make it big. Personally, I enjoyed Sparkle more than Dreamgirls. Dreamgirls may have been based on The Supremes, but with a bit of editing you could definitely made it been about Destiny's Child if you really wanted to.

Thanks for the comment! I like both movies but I certainly agree, I've always thought Sparkle was more realistic and gritty. In reference to my FB post, I had a joke fly through my head so I had a type it. In all seriousness, Dreamgirls is more cosmetic and fantasy filled.

Its a potrayal of the road to stardom and the flashy, excited, and dramatic dream that all singers look up into the corners of their eyes and live. Sparkle is an important piece of the "Dream" puzzle.

Stars are in their eyes with fame n fortune in their horizon, but all families, especially black families, stick together with or without the stardom. The ups and down that come with money and celebrity are disguises for the devil's iniquity.

But a tight knit family rides the rollercaster and sticks together while still pursuing the dream.
